J.B. Hunt Design System

SUMMARY
I inherited a J.B. Hunt design system with solid web foundations and start for mobile. I led its next chapter — expanding coverage of mobile and starting email while scaling the operating model to match the organization's growth. What started as a component library for one surface became a cross-platform design language used across the enterprise.
As the team grew, I introduced Scrum/Agile processes to give a large, multidisciplinary group predictable rhythms and clear sprint goals. I restructured into two focused pods — reducing coordination overhead and giving each sub-team sharper ownership over their scope.
Design System Shield Program
Toward the end of my tenure, I created a formal embedded advocacy program: design team members assigned directly to individual development teams to support adoption from the inside.
Shields ensured teams were on the current version and using components as intended — not just importing the library and working around it. This closed the gap between a system that existed and one that was genuinely used.
IMPACT
3 surfaces covered — Web, mobile, and email - giving the enterprise a unified design language across platforms for the first time.
6 internal promotions — A direct result of intentional people investment: clear ownership, coaching, and a team culture where growth was expected and rewarded.
3 flagship mobile applications shipped utilizing design system library, establishing mobile as a first-class citizen in the design system's component coverage.
Shield program deployed enterprise-wide — Closed the adoption gap by embedding design advocates directly inside development teams, ensuring the system was genuinely used, not just included.
